Russ is a former youth pastor, junior/senior high school math/science teacher, and a retired U.S. Army Master Sergeant. He is currently a civilian working for the Department of the Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He received a bachelor of science in mathematics from Colorado State University and a master of arts in biblical studies from Cornerstone University/Grand Rapids Theological Seminary.
