Chad Brand, Ph.D.

Senior Research Fellow

Dr. Brand is gifted as a scholar, apologist, pastor, and student of contemporary culture and religion. He serves as Associate Dean of Biblical and Theological Studies at Boyce College as well as Professor of Christian Theology at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Before coming to Louisville in 1999, he taught at North Greenville College. He has taught over 25 different types of courses and seminars and has delivered over 30 papers to groups, such as the Evangelical Theological Society, the American Academy of Religion, The Society for Pentecostal Studies, Evangelical Ministries to New Religions, and The Baptist Center for Theology and Ministry at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he is also a Fellow.

Dr. Brand is the author of many articles and reviews in publications such as The Southern Baptist Journal of Theology, Trinity Journal, Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society, and Journal of Biblical Manhood and Womanhood.

He has also published essays on contemporary religion and Baptist studies in several volumes edited by John Piper, Millard Erickson, Doug Blount, and R. Stanton Norman. He is co-editor and author of the Holman Illustrated Bible Dictionary. He is also editor and author of Five Views of Church Governance, Perspectives on Spirit Baptism, and Perspectives on Election, as well as co-author of One Sacred Effort: The Cooperative Program of Southern Baptists.  He recently published Flourishing Faith with the Acton Institute, where he has been a Kern Fellow for the last two years. He has also co-authored, with Tom Pratt, Awaiting the City (e-book from Kregel), Clash of Titans: Atlas Shrugged, John Galt, and Jesus Christ (Amazon title), and Seeking the City: Christian Faith and Political Economy, A Biblical, Theological, Historical Study (Kregel, April, 2013), and the forthcoming Perspectives on Israel and the Church (B & H).

He is also co-editor and co-author of The Apologetics Study Bible. Dr. Brand has served as pastor of two churches in Texas and one in Kentucky. He is also interim pastor of the Ekron Baptist Church in Ekron, KY. He is married to Tina, and they have three children and seven grandchildren.
