Andrew Spencer serves as Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Faith, Work & Economics. Dr. Spencer is Associate Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness at Oklahoma Baptist University. He previously served as a Senior Nuclear Operations Training Instructor at the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant. Prior to that he was a submarine office in the United States Navy; he served on the USS JIMMY CARTER (SSN-23) and at the Navy Nuclear Power Training Unit in Charleston, SC.

Spencer earned a Ph.D. in Theological Studies with an emphasis on Christian Ethics from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary as well as a Master of Divinity. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in English from the United States Naval Academy. His research interests include environmental ethics, wealth and poverty, cultural engagement, and systematic theology.

Spencer has published articles in several academic journals, including Journal of Biblical and Theological Studies, Southwestern Journal of Theology, Themelios, and Theoecology Journal. He frequently reviews books for outlets like Southeastern Theological Review, Journal of Baptist Theology and Ministry, Trinity Journal, Luther Rice Journal of Christian Studies, and others.
